Absolutely! It may take a while, but Bruce is pretty good at getting shy, timid dogs to come out of their shells. He has worked with several low confidence dogs over the years in training situations and knows how to gain their trust. Patience is required, and photo sessions with shy dogs can often take a bit longer than normal.
As for the high-energy, high-confidence, bouncing-off-the-walls kind of dog, Bruce has owned his share. Actually, dogs who rarely slow down let alone stop often take the best photographs. Visit the gallery page and check out some of the pictures of Maya going 80 mph.
No need to come to us, we’ll come to you. Most of our photo sessions take place at either your home, indoors or out, or at a favorite park. It’s often best if your dog is on familiar territory and feels comfortable enough for “playtime”. However, we have scouted out some great locations around the Puget Sound area for pet photography if you prefer getting pictures with some local scenery.
The style of photography that we do doesn’t lend itself to being in a studio. Our style is catching candid shots of your pet in their natural environment. If you are looking for posed pictures against a white seamless background, there are several fine photographers in the area that I can recommend. That said, we do have portable studio equipment and can create a studio setup in your home if you would like.
We’ll go just about anywhere. Anywhere outside of the Tacoma, Everett, and North Bend triangle will require a travel fee.
Face it, we live in the Seattle area and it’s going to rain. There’s not much we can do about that fact. However, if it’s the light drizzle that we know and love, we can still proceed with the session if you and your pup are up to it. I can protect my equipment and still take some fantastic images. But there’s no need to settle for lousy weather. We can always reschedule for another time.
We have found that natural light is the best light for working with animals. Flash photography, especially with cats, can startle them, and then it might take 20 minutes to coax them out from under the couch. But that is not to say that we never use flashes when taking pictures. It depends on the available light, the dog or cat, and the desired result. As we mentioned above, we can create a studio setup in your living room if that is what is needed.
Heck no. We’ll take pictures of your cat, horse, hamster, hedgehog, ferret, gold fish… You get the idea.
Bruce will most likely take hundreds of pictures of your pet and end up with 30 or 40 excellent images to show you in the online gallery. Most likely you’ll love the images and will have trouble deciding which ones you want to purchase as prints. However, if you don’t find any photos that you like, Bruce will meet with you and go over your gallery images to talk about what you would like to see in the images. Then we’ll schedule another photo session at no charge to take some more pictures. We promise to get some pictures you like or we’ll refund your money.
